Joining us at Gifford

Joining our Nursery

Gifford has a wonderful Nursery offering 104 part-time (15 hours) places, 52 in the morning session and 52 in the afternoon session.

We accept children into our Nursery the term after their third birthday and as long as we have vacancies. Children should be toilet trained. A place in our Nursery does not guarantee a place in our reception, this you would need to apply for via Ealing Council.

You can apply for a nursery place by completing an application form which you can download here or alternatively visit the school office for a paper copy. Please return your completed application form to  admin@gifford.ealing.sch.uk.

In the result of our Nursery being oversubscribed your child will remain on our waiting list until a place becomes available.

At Gifford Primary School we understand how important starting school is.

Our induction process helps us to

  • Foster a working partnership with parents/carers
  • Provide your child with a period of familiarisation with the staff and their peers
  • Assess and identify individual children’s educational and emotional needs
  • Successfully integrate your child into all aspects of school life

How can you support us?

You can do this by attending our workshops, assemblies and class parties.

Welcome Meeting

Once all places have been offered you will be invited to a welcome meeting. Welcome meetings take place in June or July.

This is an important meeting where we share information about starting school.

We would encourage all parents whose children we are starting Nursery or Reception in 2020 to attend.

Home Visit

Nursery

All new children will have a home visit by two members from the EYFS team in June/July.

Please note that if your child is a Nursery returner they will not have a home visit. Children with older siblings may not have a home visit.

Reception

All new children will have a home visit by two members from the EYFS team in June/July.

Please note that if your child attends Gifford Nursery they will not have a home visit. Children with older siblings may not have a home visit.

Starting at Gifford Primary School

At Gifford Primary School we have a staggered in-take in both Nursery and Reception.

We have staggered intakes so that:

  • Staff are able to support individual pupils with the transition into the school
  • Staff are able to establish important routines with children
  • Children to feel safe and secure in their new environment

The Nursery induction process takes a little longer than Reception. This is due to the age of the children and number of pupils that we have.

Day to day in the Early Years

We provide opportunities for children to come together, share their experiences and have fun.

Our children are:

  • Happy
  • Safe
  • Proud

They know that we celebrate their successes and value their achievements. Our curriculum is centred on children’s interests with a balance of child-initiated and adult-led learning.
