Uniform in Early Years

Nursery

In the Nursery, children are not expected to wear full school uniform; however we do ask that children wear the school jumper/cardigan and polo shirt which can be purchased at the school office.

Children should wear track suit bottoms and/or shorts during the summer term and a polo shirt so that they feel comfortable and don’t worry about getting messy, climbing on apparatus or sitting on the floor.

Children are not allowed to wear jewellery to Nursery for health and safety reasons. They should be able to put on their own clothes such as coats, aprons and dressing up clothes.

It is also helpful if you can provide a change of clothing in a labelled rucksack so that we can change your child if they have an accident or if they get very wet when investigating in the water tray.  You can leave the rucksack on their peg.

Nursery children can play in the playground everyday so it is important that they have a warm coat during the winter and on colder days.  Please also provide suitable shoes as flip-flops or slip-on shoes can be dangerous, particularly during outdoor play. Shoes that close using Velcro (sticky shoes) enable children to be more independent.

Reception

In Reception, children are expected to wear school uniform and a P.E kit will be necessary in the summer term.

Children are not allowed to wear jewellery to school for health and safety reasons, and children should be able to put on their own clothes such as coats, aprons and dressing up clothes.

Children can play in the playground every day at lunchtime and learn in the outdoor learning environment, so it is important that they have a warm coat during the winter and on colder days.  Please also provide suitable shoes.  Flip-flops, slip-on shoes and open toe sandals can be dangerous, particularly during outdoor play and we advise children to wear shoes that close using Velcro (sticky shoes), which enable children to be more independent.
